What is Mission Leadership Team?
Mission Leadership Team (MLT) is a discipleship program for 11th and 12th grade youth who want to explore their faith by learning to seek and love God, love and serve people. Participants commit to attending all MLT meetings, youth group participation, and regular forms of leadership and service at First Church.
What are the MLT meetings about?
Each meeting will have a different focus of faith exploration. It's a chance to try and answer some questions about who God has created you to be, prior to graduating from high school. The goal is to try and answer the question, "who am I" as God's creation?
What are the MLT requirements?
To participate in Mission Leadership Team and to attend the summer MLT mission trip, the following requirements must be met:
- 100% attendance at scheduled MLT meetings
- At least 65% attendance at Youth Group
- At least one monthly act of leadership at First Church (select using the "Add On" options while registering)
What about the MLT mission trip?
MLT participants who meet all requirements can attend the Mission Leadership Team Mission Trip. This year we will serve with Renewed Hope Missions in the Dominican Republic.
Note that the dates listed are placeholders until flights are booked. This usually occurs in late January. Please keep the entire span of dates open and notify Justin immediately if there are any conflicts.
What are the MLT meeting dates and how much does the trip cost?
The total Mission Leadership Team Mission Trip is $1,500 and can be split up with five $300 payments due during the first five MLT meetings:
- September 10, 2017 - Meeting 1 - $300 Due (rescheduled to 9/17 due to Irma)
- October 1, 2017 - Meeting 2 - $300 Due
- November 5, 2017 - Meeting 3 - $300 Due
- December 3, 2017 - Meeting 4 - $300 Due
- February 11, 2018 - Meeting 5 - Final Balance Due
- April 8, 2018 - MLT Meeting 6
- May 20, 2018 - Mission Trip Training
- May 31 - June 6, 2018 - Tentative Mission Trip Dates
Participation on the Mission Leadership Team Mission Trip also comes with a $200 discount on the cost of the High School Mission Trip. You will receive a discount code when that trip begins registration. The High School Mission Trip is not included in the $1,500 MLT trip payments.
- In order to attend a Retreat or Mission Trip with First United Methodist Church of Orlando, an existing relationship with the church is required.

Camp Wesley 2018

It's that time again! We are looking forward to another great summer!
Camp Wesley promises to be filled with God's love, amazing experiences, fun and learning.
We have made a few changes to Camp Wesley. Please pay close attention!!!!
Camp Wesley will be held June 4th-August 3rd, at First Church Orlando (142 E. Jackson Street Orlando Fl ). We have divided the Camp in two sections, based on when you plan to attend. Our Campers will be children who plan to attend the camp from 9 AM - 3 PM. Our Extended-time Campers will be children who need to stay for additional time. They can stay from 8 AM - 5 PM. Please be sure you register under the appropriate group. Registration will begin Monday, March 19th. All attendees of Camp Wesley must have completed Kindergarten and be Elementary or Middle School age or have just completed the 8th grade. Activity groups will be separated based on age.
A CAMPERS DAY. Extended-time Campers can arrive beginning at 8 AM and will be signed in at the Fun Zone. At 8:45, all campers will move to the Chapel for morning worship and devotion. From 9:30-3:00, students will participate in a number of activities including sports on the 3rd Floor, Spy Academy where they learn STEM concepts, arts and crafts, drama and more. There is even a time for academics where students can work on math and reading skills at their independent level. Forget about the Summer Slump for your kids. Once a week, we will travel on a fun-filled field trip. At the end of the day, Campers will be picked up at 3:00 PM while Extended-time Campers will continue their fun until they are picked up by 5:00 PM.
There is a one time Family Registration fee of $35. This must be paid online, when you pay for the week(s) you choose . For Campers, Camp Tuition is $155 per week and for Extended-time Campers, Camp Tuition is $170. Camp Tuition includes snacks, all field trips, and a Camp Wesley T-shirt. Tuition must be paid in advance.
This year children will need to bring their lunch. Items should not need refrigeration or heating. We will have staggered lunches, so students will have a quiet reading time and a Fun Zone time in the middle of the day. Please have your child bring a book they enjoy reading.
NO ELECTRONICS will be allowed; unless otherwise noted. Please do not send any I-pads, video games electronics, or cell phones, with your child. We have plenty for them to do!

SHIPWRECKED: Rescued by Jesus!
At Shipwrecked VBS, kids discover how Jesus rescues us through life's storms. Shipwrecked is filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear, touch, and even taste! Science-Fun Gizmos, team-building games, cool Bible songs, and tasty treats are just a few of the standout activities that help faith flow into real life. Plus, we'll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in everyday life - something we call God Sightings.

Mission Week (July 9th - July 13th)

Calling all completed 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders for the 2018 Mission Week! Join us from 8:30 AM- 2:30 PM as we serve around Orlando. Our mornings will be spent volunteering and our afternoons will include a lunch and fun activity. This a great opportunity for your child to learn how their service can make a difference.
*The camp is limited to 12 children. If there are spots remaining open, we will open up registration to completed 3rd graders.
